10 AM Pick-up for all camps will all be carpool style. In the dining hall you will let us know who your camper is and provide your ID. Please be on time to pick up your camper(s). All campers must be checked out with our Dean before they can leave campus, so please have photo ID ready.*
*We will not send a camper home with an adult who is not listed on their “Authorized to Pick Up” list on registration.*
Involve your child in selecting clothes. Do the packing together so that your child will be aware of what is in his/her suitcase. At the end of every week, we are always left with a large number of unclaimed towels and clothing, so it is sometimes helpful to mark beach towels, jackets, or other important items with a laundry marker. It is also a good idea to send a plastic bag so that your child can separate their clean and dirty clothes. There will be an unclaimed pile in the dining hall during pick up. Please remember to look through items before leaving. Also, please be aware we cannot gaurantee an item won't accidentally go home with another camper, especially with our younger ages. Campers often come with the same sizes and clothes making it difficult for them to remember whose is whose.
Mail is a big part of camp during lunch times. When our mail is delivered, any mail you send will be given to your child. You are welcome to send pre-stamped and pre-addressed envelopes with your child so that he/she will have the option to send mail back home to you. We will also have postcards during check-in. Please send letters and packages to the following address:
Mississippi Christian Service Camp
c/o “Camp Session”, “Name of Camper”
PO Box 6
Newton, MS
Visitors are strongly discouraged from coming to the camp because the program is usually disrupted. If you do need to visit, please check in with the dean upon your arrival. The camp is not open to the public during summer camp programs.
If you need to check a camper out due to doctor's appointments, school sports, or other extra curricular activities please let us know on the registration form. Please check-in with the dean before taking a camper and when bringing the camper back.
We ask that you do not suggest that your child can call home if he/she gets homesick. That statement is something your child will remember if feeling homesick at camp. Do not introduce a conversation about homesickness in getting ready for camp, as this may just set your child up for it. If this does happen, the camp staff is prepared to work with your child and make a phone call for your child if we need to involve a parent. If a camper decides to leave camp due to homesickness, please make sure the dean is aware before coming to pick up your child.
When a child shares with us that he/she has a desire to be baptized, one of the camp faculty will discuss with them what a decision for Christ involves. If someone from their home church is here at camp, they typically would have this discussion because of the prior knowledge of the camper. We don’t want a camper to make a decision simply because a friend is doing it.
During the process the Dean or another staff member will contact the parent or guardian listed on the camper’s registration information. If a camper is going to be baptized at camp, we welcome parents, grandparents and friends to attend the baptism service. Sometimes parents and campers have already had a discussion about baptism before they arrive at camp. If so, feel free to share that with his/her dorm parent or Dean at check-in.
All camp housing, restrooms, and changing areas are based on biological sex at birth. No one camper, staff or parent of the opposite sex is allowed in the dorms with the exception of the camp nurse or dean if a situation arises.
The Dean has the right to dismiss any camper who is unwilling to follow camp rules and procedures or has conducted themselves in a way that contradicts our statement of faith.
